Each month Senior News tells stories about local seniors and local issues of importance to elders, their families, and their caregivers. Unique in Northern California, this 24-page monthly newspaper is distributed along a 150-mile stretch of the northwest California coast. This nonprofit publication is funded by local businesses and nonprofits through advertising dollars.

Monthly circulation:  12,000 copies:  Beginning with the February 2020 issue of Senior News; 3,000 distributed by volunteers to stores, restaurants and meeting places from Crescent City to Garberville;  almost 7,500 included  in the SUNDAY Times-Standard newspaper on the last Sunday of each month; and into the Mad River Union to 1,500 subscribers on the last Wednesday of the month.

Senior News serves the largest growing demographic in Humboldt County. According to the latest counts, seniors (65 and over) comprise 17.9 percent of the population in Humboldt. Senior News has been published by the Humboldt Senior Resource Center since 1981.
