The Humboldt Council on Estate Planning and Elder Care is a professional educational organization comprised of attorneys, CPAs, fiduciaries, investment advisors, and other related professionals practicing on the North Coast.  The primary function of the Council is to provide continuing educational opportunities for these  professionals.   Council activities help professionals stay abreast of changes in the law and tax codes and also provide education regarding resources for their clients.

The Council hosts educational luncheon meetings six times per year.  The Humboldt Senior Resource Center (HSRC) is accredited by the State Bar of California (provider #10210) to offer MCLE credit to attorneys who attend these meetings and meet the California State Bar requirements.  The MCLE credits can apply to other related professionals, as well.

All educational luncheons are held at the Sequoia Conference Center in Eureka from 12 noon am to 1:30 pm.

  • Thursday, March 20:  Estate Planning Update, presented by Dennis Reinholtsen, Janssen Malloy
  • Thursday, May 22:  Cognitive Impairment and Capacity Assessment, presented by Andrew Levine, PhD, North Coast Neuropsychology
  • Thursday, July 17:  Medi-Cal Income Qualification, speaker TBD
  • Thursday, September 18:  Title Insurance and Estates of Decedents, presented by Melinda Moffitt, Manager/Title Officer, North Coast Title Group
  • Thursday, November 20 :  Tax Law Updates, presented by Scott Hunt, Partner, Hunter, Hunter & Hunt

The educational luncheon fee is $50 per person, payable by check or credit card.  This fee includes 1 hour of MCLE credit. Mail checks, made payable to HSRC, to Humboldt Senior Resource Center, 1910 California St, Eureka CA 95501.   Reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.
