Want to Make a Difference in an Older Adult’s Life this Holiday Season? Volunteer!

This holiday season, are you looking for a way to make a difference in someone’s life? Do you enjoy helping older adults? If yes, please consider volunteering with HSRC.
Volunteers are welcome in a number of HSRC programs, with both short-term and long-term opportunities available at various HSRC sites:
  • Volunteers are being recruited for the new Friendly Connections program. This program aims to provide joy and companionship to older adults in our community through regular and supportive interactions. Each volunteer will be paired with an older adult and will make weekly contact to offer companionship, support and a friendly ear.   Call 707-443-9747 ext 1241 for more info.
  • Volunteer leaders and instructors are needed for the Activities program.   Call 707-443-9747 ext 1241 if you want to assist with a currently scheduled activity or have an idea for a new class.
  • The Nutrition Program welcomes volunteers at its Heritage Café sites in Arcata, Eureka and Fortuna.  Volunteer drivers for Meals on Wheels Redwood Coast are needed to help us expand this service for homebound older adults who cannot shop or cook for themselves.
  • For Redwood Coast Village (RCV), a program of HSRC, volunteers are central to the services they provide.  RCV is a membership program for older adults providing assistance that helps members be active and independent. Volunteers help members with shopping, pet care, rides to appointments and social activities, minor household tasks, and more. To volunteer with RCV, call 707-443-9747 ext 1283,  or visit the Redwood Coast Village webpage here.
