Building Hope, Changing Lives: The Fundraising Campaign
for the New Alzheimer's Center

Do you know a family coping with Alzheimer’s disease in a loved one? Chances are, you do. One in 10 people ages 65 and older have Alzheimer’s or a related form of dementia. Nearly half of those ages 85 and older have this heartbreaking disease.

Seniors are the fastest growing population on the North Coast. The greatest risk factor for Alzheimer’s is age. For the past six years, the Humboldt Senior Resource Center has had families on a waiting list for the Alzheimer’s day care program that is part of our Adult Day Health Services. The need for specialized day care and other Alzheimer’s services increases each year as our senior population grows and more families need help coping with this disease.

HSRC is addressing this issue by planning the New Alzheimer’s Center, a facility that will be specially designed to improve care and quality of life for people with dementia. Through the New Alzheimer’s Center, we will help more than twice as many families who need Alzheimer’s day care services. We will also be able to expand our support services, resources and education for families and caregivers throughout Humboldt County.

Please read on to learn how you can get involved in helping build the New Alzheimer’s Center.
