Low-cost firewood vouchers will be sold starting Monday, October 21, 2019 at HSRC, 1910 California Street, in Eureka. Firewood vouchers will be sold between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, until they are sold out.
Eligible households may purchase up to two cords of firewood for the year. If vouchers for two cords of wood were purchased during our July 2019 sale, then no more vouchers can be purchased this year. If a voucher for one cord was purchased in the July sale, then one voucher can be purchased during this sale period.
Vouchers are redeemable for one cord of wood each and will be sold until gone. Voucher sales are on a first-come, first-served basis; there is no wait list. Eligible households are those with an individual age 55 or older and living on low to moderate income. Vouchers are priced on a sliding scale ($100 – $150 incl. tax) based on household size and household monthly income. Payment can be made by cash or local check only. Proof of age (such as driver’s license, ID card, or other legal document) and proof of household income (such as tax return, two current pay stubs, Social Security Statement, or pension statement) are required. No handwritten documents can be accepted as proof of income.
Once purchased, vouchers can be redeemed at the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Work Alternative Program (SWAP) lot in Eureka. Delivery is available; delivery fees are based on location. For more info, call 707-443-9747, ext. 1240.
